JOB SUMMARY AND SCOPE
The Electronic Designer works in a research and development environment, often in collaboration with test engineering, production, and quality teams. The role also involves collaborating with suppliers of electronic components, testing and certification laboratories, and post-sales support teams.
The job requires a high level of attention to product quality, safety, and sustainability, as photovoltaic inverters must be efficient, safe, and durable over time.
ACTIVITIES
• Design and develop power electronic circuits for photovoltaic inverters (DC-DC and DC-AC conversion topologies).
• Select and size power electronic components, such as power semiconductors (IGBT, MOSFET), diodes, capacitors, inductors, transformers, to ensure the efficiency, reliability, and safety of the inverter.
• Work on driving circuitry to optimize inverter performance.
• Develop control circuits for inverter management.
• Implement electronic protection systems (overvoltage protection, overload protection, overheating protection) to ensure that the inverter operates safely and reliably throughout its operational life.
• Design circuits for managing communication between the inverter and monitoring or network devices (e.g., communication protocols like Modbus, CAN bus, etc.)
• Work on optimizing the efficiency of the inverter, minimizing power losses, and improving thermal management (heat dissipation, heatsinks, temperature management).
• Analyze and design cooling systems for high-power electronic components to ensure long lifespan and stable performance.
• Develop prototypes of electronic circuits and inverters, and coordinate testing activities to validate the design and performance of the inverter in laboratory and field conditions.
• Collaborate with testing teams to conduct functional analyses, reliability tests, and compliance testing with international standards (IEC 62109, UL 1741).
• Identify and resolve any design issues through circuit reviews and debugging of prototypes.
• Stay updated on new technologies in the field of power electronics, power semiconductors, and photovoltaic inverter solutions.
• Propose and develop innovative solutions to improve the performance, energy efficiency, and lifespan of photovoltaic inverters.
• Collaborate with the research and development team to test and implement new technologies.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
MUST HAVE
• Basic knowledge of photovoltaic inverter topologies.
• Experience with the selection and sizing power electronic components (IGBT, MOSFET, diodes, capacitors, inductors).
• Knowledge of thermal design techniques and heat management in power electronic systems.
• Experience with circuit simulation (MicroCap, LTspice, MATLAB/Simulink).
NICE TO HAVE
• Experience with electronic design software (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD, Eagle, PSpice, Cadence).
• Knowledge of digital control systems.
BEHAVIORAL SKILLS
MUST HAVE
• Collaboration: ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with engineers from different areas.
• Organization and time management: ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meeting deadlines and priorities.
NICE TO HAVE
• Analysis and problem-solving: strong attitude for diagnosing and solving complex problems during the design and testing phases.
• Creativity and innovation: ability to propose new and innovative solutions to optimize inverter design, improving efficiency and reliability.
