The PVS-175 offers 12 Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) with dual string fuseless design and string current monitoring features to deliver greater capacity and maximum energy yields to even the most complex installations in Taiwan’s utility-scale applications.
Following its acquisition of the ABB solar inverter business in 2020, FIMER is deepening its footprint in Taiwan with the expansion of its local product offering. As of June 2021, the Italian solar inverter manufacturer has obtained the Voluntary Product Certification (VPC) to launch its award-winning three-phase string inverter PVS-175 in-market.
The VPC is a certification initiated by Taiwan’s Bureau of Standard, Metrology, and Inspection (BSMI) to ensure high efficiency, quality and safety for various products including solar inverters. All new PV plants in Taiwan are required to use inverters that have been certified by VPC.
Engineered to reinforce system safety and increase energy yields, the PVS-175 comes equipped with the Arc Fault Circuit Interrupter (AFCI) and Anti-PID (Anti-Potential Induced Degradation) functionalities. AFCI enhances system reliability and safety by preventing the risk of fire in DC circuits with no disruptions to the AC distribution system design. At the same time, the Anti-PID board actively stems the degradation of solar cells which lowers electricity yields, fulling meeting the requirements of the VPC.
Offering generous capacity, the award-winning three-phase string inverter can generate a maximum power output of 185 kW while offering a maximum input voltage of 1,500V and output voltage of 800V. Owing to the higher AC and DC voltage, it also offers excellent value by significantly reducing the total cost of ownership in the long-term. With the capability to generate up to 65 percent savings on installation and logistic costs, the PVS-175 is effective in reducing Levelized Cost of Electricity (LCOE) especially for utility-scale installations.
As Taiwan ramps up the adoption of solar energy to achieve 20GW as a key source of domestic electricity by 2025, the PVS-175’s plug and play features helps speed up installations for on-time delivery of projects. Additionally, FIMER’s Aurora Vision Plant Management Platform enables remote monitoring of the entire PV system from anywhere, at any time of the day.
Said FIMER Taiwan Country Manager Vincent Wu: “As Taiwan aims to boost renewable energy to 20% by 2025, we are delighted to expand the breadth of our local product offering and formally bring FIMER’s PVS-175 to-market. In addition to meeting the stringent requirements of the VPC, the PVS-175 offers versatility and flexibility to cater to different PV plant designs. With 12 Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), dual string fuseless design and string current monitoring features, we will now be able to deliver greater capacity and maximum energy yields to even the most complex installations in Taiwan’s utility-scale applications.”
